Scott Schultz, a veteran journalist, has spent countless hours
in the woods. During those
times, he found what so many writers have learned over the years: how a
connection with the land, with nature, and with a special place allows
meaningful words to be drawn from a writer's heart. When that connection
is made and the inspiration pours words onto paper, Schultz feels "The Heartbeat."
Now, he and his supporters are working to share that feeling.
Schultz founded The Heartbeat, a nonprofit organization, to
provide an avenue for teachers, writers and young adults to hone their artistic and
literary skills.
By working with an advisory committee consisting of teachers and
writers, they offer opportunities for small groups and individuals to
contemplate, write, share, learn and teach.
